Philadelphia Facial Plastic Surgery & Medspa is thrilled to introduce Michael Razzano as our aesthetician. Michael was gracious enough to relocate from Albany, New York where he has been honing his skills as a licensed facial aesthetician. Michael brings seven years of customer service experience with him to deliver a warm and personalized touch. With a passion for results-driven aesthetics, Michael holds certifications in: Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels, Microcurrent, Microdermabrasion, and Microneedling. In December 2021, the popular skincare line Dermalogica® certified him as an Expert. Michael has a particular passion to help patients with acne and is a certified acne specialist through Face Reality™ where he has proven himself to successfully implement and run an acne bootcamp program to treat several types of acne, including more severe cases. Pretreatment is key before undergoing a peel. So, we strongly recommend you book a consultation first to see if your skin is ready to be peeled. We only want the best results for you and ensuring a proper pre-peel regimen is imperative to give you a safe and lasting result.
After being properly pretreated, peels are a great way to target different skin concerns. Peels create a controlled wound that result in visual changes in the skin after healing. We have many different peels to target multiple concerns from very superficial to medium depth. Downtime depends on the depth of the peel and ranges from no downtime up to 14 days.
Peels are usually recommended to be performed as a series of peels every 3-4 weeks to give you lasting results. Not only does repeat peeling give you a better result, it allows Michael to keep a close eye on you to ensure a great result and to revisit your home maintenance routine. Packaging the peels is also a more economical as we provide a discount for bundling services.
COSMELAN® CHEMICAL PEELPhiladelphia Facial Plastic Surgery & Medspa is thrilled to now offer the Cosmelan® peel! This revolutionary peel is the new leader in chemical peels to target hyperpigmentaiton.
One Cosmelan treatment includes the initial treatment, a touch up after 28 days, and a homecare routine including corrective serum, recovery moisturizer, and sunscreen (gentle cleanser not included). The homecare routine should be continued for 6-8 weeks post treatment for maximal success. After the treatment, Michael looks forward to working with you to create a new routine to help you maintain the results of your Cosmelan treatment.
A standard peeling is a treatment that acts on the surface of the skin by chemically eliminating the top layers and contributing to its renewal. Chemical peels deliver high concentrations of exfoliating acids to the skin to brighten the complexion, even skin tone and to improve the appearance of spots and wrinkles. In the case of patients with dark spots, a peel can help fade the spots but the blemish will appear again if the mechanisms that produce it are not treated.
The Cosmelan® method visibly removes and attenuates spots (just like a peel) but it most importantly provides a regulating action as it corrects the overproduction of pigmentation to prevent the spots’ reappearance. While peelings act on the surface of the problem, Cosmelan® treatment targets the origin.
Cosmelan® is a unique combination of active ingredients of proven efficacy that acts on the entire process of spot formation to remove the accumulation of melanin and inhibit the formation of new spots. If you are a good candidate for the program, you will leave with a personalized routine and additional resources to jumpstart your acne journey. Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure which is safe for all skin types. Philadelphia Facial Plastic Surgery & Medspa is pleased to offer the Exceed™ microneedling device made by Candela™. This device has many indications to improve your appearance. Microneedling precisely creates thousands of tiny wounds with the delicate tip of the Exceed™ device. As your skin heals, new collagen is formed. This new collagen restores your skin’s appearance and helps to diminish fine lines and wrinkles. These treatments are typically done one month apart for three treatments in total. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from blood. PRP is used in many fields of medicine and surgery, and we utilize PRP in facial aesthetics for its many cosmetic benefits. PRP can be injected, and this delivery method is traditionally used as such to help restore hair loss. Alternatively, PRP can be delivered via microneedling. We combine PRP with the Candela Exceed medical microneedling device for a number of indications. Microneedling with PRP is amazing for treating fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and even hair loss. Who is a good candidate?
All resurfacing procedures rely on wounding the skin. Through the process of healing and proper aftercare, your skin’s appearance improves. This can be done with lasers, chemical peels, and dermabrasion. Microneedling is a mechanical means of wounding the skin, and unlike lasers and chemical peels, all skin types (Fitzpatrick I-VI) are candidates for this treatment. Patients with facial and neck scarring (e.g., acne pitting) or mild to moderate lines and wrinkles are great candidates for microneedling. There is minimal downtime after the procedure, and you can return to work the following day. We will work to make this procedure as painless as possible for you through the use of various numbing agents on hand. If you have active acne, other infections, or are prone to cold sores, you may need to delay your treatment or require the use of pre-procedure medications to decrease the risk of flaring any latent infection.Pricing

Pigment and Vacular Concerns – 150+ Our Lumenis® Splendor X laser can treat many skin issues such as pigmentary concerns, spider veins, telangiectasias (visible capillaries), cherry angiomas, and more.These treatments can be done on nearly any part of the body. The number of treatments varies depending on the type of concern present. Patients with melasma should be aware that this is not likely to improve this situation. Skin Tightening – 250+ The Lumenis® Splendor X has the ability to perform skin tightening through the use of the Nd:YAG (1064nm) laser. This painless treatment helps to boost collagen formation in the skin thereby aiding in fullness and tightening of the skin. At least 3-4 treatments are recommended and are performed on a weekly basis for optimal results. There is no downtime with this and can be added-on to any of our facials.Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the U.S., as it allows men and women to not only remove unwanted body hair but also prevent it from growing back. After just a few treatments, a person may be able to eliminate the need to constantly shave, wax or epilate.

that laser hair removal is in the top 3 most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed? Millions of people have had this performed and the demand never seems to end. Most people who get laser hair removal are very satisfied with the results, with most achieving a permanent reduction in hair growth. In fact, nearly 9 in 10 people who get laser hair removal say that having gone through the process and experiencing the results for themselves, they would choose to do it again.
Laser hair removal is performed in the comfort of Dr. Spall’s office. During your meeting with Dr. Spalla or his aesthetician, we will discuss your goals and candidacy for the procedure. Assuming there is no reason you shouldn’t have treatment, you will be able to have it done immediately, so long as your schedule permits.
We will go over the procedure again with you and talk you through the process. Unlike many places you may go, we are not here to rush you. We want the experience to be as pleasant as possible. Dr. Spalla has visited many places around the city who treat their patients in a hurried manner and are quick to simply move onto the next client without another word. We do not do that here. You are our priority from the minute you arrive and will be treated as such.
You will be brought to the treatment room and made comfortable on the exam table. Only the area to be treated will be exposed, and for as little time as necessary. You will wear protective eyewear and the cooling unit will be applied to the target area. The laser will be carefully guided over the treatment area which targets the dark pigment of each hair killing the follicle beneath.
Once your treatment is complete, aloe gel will be applied (unless not desired) to the treated region and you will be given time to freshen yourself in the treatment room. We will then escort you to the checkout desk and help you secure your follow-up appointment.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
If you are tired of shaving, plucking, waxing, bleaching, and everything else, you should strongly consider laser hair removal to permanently reduce those unwanted hairs.
There is almost no area on the body that can’t be treated with laser hair removal. We routinely perform this from the face down to the toes, so just let us know what you want done, and we will work with you to meet your goals.
WHO IS NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
- Patients who are unsure about permanent hair reduction of an area of their body may wish to hold off until they are certain.
- Patients who are tan. Laser hair removal should not be done on naturally, or chemically, tan skin.
- Patients with active skin infections at the site of desired treatments should postpone their treatment.
- Patients should not have recently plucked, waxed, or chemically-depilated the hair. The laser isn’t effective at that time, and we need time for some hair growth so that the laser can effectively destroy the hair bulb.
- Patients with healing issues – keloids, collagen disorders, diabetic neuropathy, and more must disclose this to us so that we can ensure whether or not this treatment is for you.
- Patients with light-colored hair. The laser gets absorbed by darker pigments and therefore will not be able to treat such hair.
- Patient desiring removal of facial “peach fuzz.” These light-colored hairs aren’t absorbed by the laser and are better treated with dermaplaning which we can readily perform
- Patients with any skin lesions in the are to be treated. We will note these to you but cannot treat over the lesion(s) themselves and will work around them.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
Most people experience a noticeable reduction in the amount of hair re-growth after a single treatment, though additional treatments will be necessary to achieve optimal results. In general, patients should have 4 sessions done and then reassess the results. Following this, touch-up treatments are generally done at varying intervals depending on any regrowth and your desires.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN I BE TREATED?
The frequency of treatment depends on the location on your body. The intervals varying from as soon as 4 weeks to as long as 16 weeks and is dependent on the rate of hair growth in that region of treatment.

BOTOX
Botox is a safe, FDA-approved cosmetic treatment among the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure performed since its FDA approval in 2002. Millions of people have undergone Botox injections to help smooth facial lines and restore a younger appearance. Botox is injected into the facial muscles, helping to block nerve impulses and relax the muscles. Without contracting facial muscles, lines become less evident and are prevented from worsening. Nearly every facial muscle can be treated with this injection.
Over time, repeated injections can make certain muscles smaller to avoid deeper lines or even lessen and make the face more narrow along the jawline. There is little to no downtime with Botox injections and can be performed on almost anyone.
FACIAL FILLERS
Facial fillers are substances injected beneath the skin to add volume to a region of the face or neck. They can be used to volumize a region of the face such as the cheeks or jawline. They can also soften folds, like the ones we develop along the junction of our mouth and cheek (nasolabial folds) and to fill in fine facial lines.
Also known as dermal fillers, these injections are in-office procedures that are minimally invasive options to treat many cosmetic concerns. They can serve as an alternative to more invasive cosmetic procedures in many instances. Patients often undergo facial filler injections to achieve a more youthful appearance with as little downtime as possible. Fillers are available to target nearly any area of the face, including the lips, cheeks, jaw, around the eyes, and even the temples.
KYBELLA
Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness (“double chin”) by destroying excess fat cells below the chin. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Once these cells are destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
DYSPORT
Dysport is a non-surgical, injectable treatment used to smooth and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It’s made of Botulinum toxin Type A, which works by temporarily relaxing the muscles beneath the face. Dysport injections have very similar indications and use to Botox. Most people who undergo Dysport treatments have lines or wrinkles that are moderate to severe and non-responsive to other types of cosmetic treatments.
